How old must a vehicle be to not be required to pass a smog test?

1. It depends on the state. Those are state laws. Like in Florida (where I live) we don't have emission tests.
2. The vehicle must be 1975 and older, or at least 30 years old. If the car is 6 years old or newer, you will be charged an abatement fee and not required to smog your car.
