What is the difference between commercial burglary and petty theft?

What is the difference between commercial burglary and petty theft? I know that commercial burglary is a felony but why? They seem like the same crime on paper what is the difference? What can commercial burglary be reduced to?

1. What is commercial burglary? I am an Aussie & have never heard that one.
2. It sounds like the difference between being a pro and an amateur. Much greater returns and much more time behind bars.
3. I'm not sure what "commercial burglary is", but petty theft is a lesser crime than burglary. It actually is derived from the French, meaning "petite" or "small" theft, like stealing a pack of cigarettes from a store, as opposed to a major heist. The real difference would be in the amount of time you'd have to serve being incarcerated.
