How might I get from San Francisco to Sacramento via public transportation?
I considered Amtrak, but they don't seem to have any trains leaving Sacramento back to San Francisco on the night of September 22. I need to get to Sacramento anytime before 6PM, and back to San Francisco before midnight.

- Greyhound. Their last bus from Sacramento to SF leaves at 8:45 and gets you there at around 11:00.
- Yep, the old Dirty Dog (Greyhound)...howl....
- Better take another look at Amtrak. You do realize, I hope, that none of the trains run actually to or from San Francisco. They run shuttles to/from Emeryville/Oakland.
- Amtrak should have trains... I'm not sure what you're looking at. Try Emeryville to Sacramento on the Capital Corridor.
- Amtrak capitol corridor. Take Bart to Oakland Coliseum/Oakland airport station. Amtrak capitol corridor station is right there. take a Fremont or Dublin train. http://www.capitolcorridor.org/stations/
- there are no amtrak to SF. greyhound is your easiest way. but i heard of some cheap shuttles from uc davis to uc berkeley, when i was still in college. thats a safer option i guess. you can always look for share ride on craigslist too. i hv done that a couple times from SF to LA.
- Amtrak to Emeryvile and take the bus to the city. You can pickup Amtrak bus that parks to the right of the ferry building.
- Amtrack has trains running every hr. from Sacramento to the bay area you can pick up Bart at the Richmond station or take Bart to Richmond and catch Amtrack to Sacramento. Amtrack calls it the Capitol Corridor.
